Funeral services environmental scan [2012, 2013, 2014, 2015]

The annual environmental scan is produced by the Western Australian Retail and Personal Services Council to inform on the retail industry workforce environment in relation to funeral services. The funeral services industry is a small industry that includes businesses such as cemeteries and crematoriums. The funeral services industry consists of four broad sectors: (1) funeral directing; (2) cemetery and crematoria operations; gravedigging, grounds maintenance operations; (3) embalming; (4) mortuary management. The reports include: (1) an overview of the industry; (2) trend analysis; (3) regulatory requirements including legislation, self-regulation and training; (4) workforce demographics; (5) impact of globalisation; (6) impact of government policy; (7) technology; (8) regional aspects; (9) sustainability; (10) qualification profile of the workforce; and (11) industry occupation overview including the supply and demand of training and current and emerging skill/labour gaps.
